Your Memorialists would remark that the chief lines of traffic, viz. the Queen's Road and the Praya, are parallel to and a few yards from the sea wall; that salt water has been found remarkably well adapted for the purpose of road watering; that it lays the dust and at the same time binds and renders the surface firm; that the evaporation arising from an extended area at a time when the extreme defecation of the air is often attended with inconvenience will be beneficial; and that a large amount of comfort may thus be obtained at a very moderate expense.
Vehicles alike suffer from the jarring tread and motion, and the pleasure of carriage, and especially equestrian exercise, is materially lessened.
